Carp fishing in Germany:

The largest country in Europe – not only in terms of population, but also, above all, in terms of the number of waters!
In this area, we probably had to invest most of the time in order to work through more than 1500 waters. Fishing is forbidden at some, there is no fish on some huge lakes (brown coal mining) and some are still fished by network paths. But there is still a very considerable number of waters for the angler over. The diversity is enormous! This is reflected in the different fishing laws as well as in the different types of water. The 16 federal states of Germany are divided into the respective fishing associations. As a result, typically, each state has its own fishing laws, which must be observed.

Regulations for fishing in Germany:

In some federal states there is a general ban on night fishing, although there are also one or two exceptions. Here we need to use our filter system intelligently to discover them. Paylakes, as in the other countries of Europe, are scarce to none. This is largely due to the strange “catch and release ban” in Germany (the only country in Europe where C&R is banned). We would like to highlight the huge natural lakes, especially in Brandenburg – untouched waters that have to be worked out hard and a relatively carp fisherman friendly environment.

Tip for the license procurement in public waters:

In order to be allowed to fish in Germany, you have to take a fishing exam. In some federal states there are guest cards to allow tourists to fish for a limited period of time. With some associations, licenses can be purchased online, for others you have to go locally to the appropriate offices and purchase the license there. All this information can be found in our entries. If you are looking for information on fishing law in Germany, you will find it on the land fishing association pages below.
